Book Review: Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets

Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets (English Edition) eBook: Rowling, J.K.: Amazon.it: Kindle Store

In the second chapter of the Harry Potter's series, the protagonist comes back to Hogwarts with his two friends and they descover that into the school exists a chamber of secrets, created by one of the founders of the school. Into the chamber, a monster had been locked inside the chamber and in this year someone opened it, freeing the monster who wants to kill anyone isn't a pure blood wizard.

Comparing the film and the book, the second one is absolutely better! Reading the book, I noticed that the movie forgot something I think it's important. In general, I always found boring the second film, but I found the book as interesting as the other books!

And you? What do you think about HP and the Chamber of Secrets? Do you prefer the book or the movie? Let me know in the comments.

Book Review: Harry Potter and Philosopher's Stone

Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone (English Edition) eBook: Rowling, J.K.: Amazon.it: Kindle Store
I saw all the films of Harry Potter many times, but I've never read the books. So, during the quarantine, I took my kindle and I started to read the first book.

Harry Potter is a famous young wizard even if he doesn't know. At eleven years he starts to attend the Hogwarts School for wizards where he knows many pieces of information about his origins. During school he meets his two best friends, Hermione and Ron, and with them, Harry will have a lot of fun and problems.

I loved the books, more than the movie. Watching only the film, I never understood that Harry loves so much quidditch. I also loved the riddle of Professor Piton, that the movie completely removed.

Have you ever read the book? What do you think about both the film and the book? Let me know in the comments.

See you soon

Book Review: Ti odio con tutto il cuore

Took from Google Image
Welcome back, readers!

During these days I read a book I bought two or three years ago, but I have never had the occasion to start it. The title is "Ti odio con tutto il cuore" (I hate you with all my heart) and it is written by an Italian young woman.

The story talks about a woman that hate a man, who is a famous chef and that he used to be his best friend when they were younger. For all the first half of the book, she really hates him, but then she starts to change and finally she forgive him.

I liked the book in general. It has beautiful descriptions of New York and Miami. I love it more because of it talks a lot about the Italian food and the Italian passion for food. The love story is nice. It's full of pull-and-spring between the two protagonists. Even if it isn't the kind of stories I usually like, I appreciated it.

Have you ever had the occasion of reading it? Someone would leave some comment about the book?

Have a nice week.

Review - "Acceptance"

Hello dears! How are you? How was you last days of 2015?

In December I finally have read the last chapter of the trillogy of the Area X, "Acceptance", and I have to say that it was really misterious!
In this tjird book are narrated the pasts of the lighthouse's guardian, of the psycologist of the first book and the trip into the Area X of the à2false" biologist with the protagonist of the second book.
The air of mistery follows you during the entire reading, from the firts letter to the last one. Finally is revealed what is in reality the Area X who is enlarging all over the world and there is a little chapter dedicated to the visit od the real biologist inside the Area X after the death of her three companions.
Some secrets are reveald while other are kept hidden.
The end of the book, in my opinion, is perfect. There is the right dose of satisfaction mixed with insatisfaction given from a feeling of sadness and lonliness of some scenes.
In its entirety, I have found this trillogy really interesting and satisfying.

Hope you enjoy my review and will read this trillogy ^_^
Hugs

Review - Authority

Finally I have reached to ley my hands on the second book of the Area X's trilogy and read it! It is "Authority" by Jeff VanderMeer. It is a thriller/fantasy trilogy, but in this book there is less fantasy than the first one.

In te second chapter of the Area X we are into the Southern Reach, a structure who organises the expeditions and the science researches. This structure is leded by a new director who is substituting the old one identified as the psycologist of the previeus book. The new director has the task of interrogate the survivors of the 12th expedition (the anthropologist, the topogrpher and the biologist), to organize the structure and...discover as much informations as possible. He carries out all the works, but when he reachesto find interesting informations, the Southern Reach "desappears".

The rythm of the book is slow, but not so much, at the beguinning and fast at the ending. It is charming with a breathless ending. Now I'm waiting the third one who will arrive in Italy at the end of this year.

See you!

The books for my summer

The library of my village will close from 10th to 22nd of August, so I thought to get some books on loan before the closing.

The first I decided to get was "Authority" by Jeff Vander Meer who was setted aside by my friend Silvana, the librarian. It is the second book of a trilogy talking about a special vegetable area called "Area X". It is a mix between fantasy and sci-fi, really interesting!
The second one was "Abraham Lincoln, vampire hunter", by Seth Grahame-Smith. It's a biografic, historic and horror romance who talk about the president Abraham Lincoln like a vampire hunter.
The others came from classical litterature: "Therese Raquin" written by Emile Zola, "La Dame aux càmelias" by Alexandre Dumas and a collection of shot stories by Philip K. Dick (the same who wrote "Dr. Futurity")

I'm a lover of reading and you?
Will you read something during the remaining summer? What will you read? I am always hunting new titles to read. Give me yours, I will be happy to know new books ^_^

Have a nice week!

Review - Annihilation

I have worked in a library for one year and I have had the possibility of reading books before to lend them people. The last one I read was "Annihilation" written by Jeff Vander Meer. A thriller with a bit of fantasy setted on an unpolluted zone of the world and narrated with by the point of view of the protagonist in the shape of a diary. Four womans are sent to this place studying the strange events are happening there. They don't have names and the call them with their profession: the psychologist, the anthropologist, the biologist and the topographer. They belong to the 12th expedition and with them they have only a little equipment. About the place they don't know so much: it is rich of vegetation and various types of fauna, there is a base camp organized by the previous expeditions, there is an abbandoned village and a lighthouse. For their researches the have to trust only on the meagre informations given by their superiors thanks to the other expeditions. After the discover of what the biologist consider a buried tower, they concentrate all their energies on it. Then, cause of some events like the disappear of the anthropologist, the biologist decides to go to the lighthouse where she finds the diaries of all previouse expeditions. She read some diaries and then she came back alone to the tower where is able to find other interesting informations. At the end she leave a sort of message for the posterity.

Since the start of the book I found it magnetic. Putting aside some specific scientific terms, the reading is fluent. During the parts of more tension it seems that the text slides on a sheet of ice. If the book cover attracted me, the book kept me glued to the pages. The mistery occupies all the books, even if, at the end it isn't revealed completly.

Have a nice week!
