Prime Film Review: Jolt

"Jolt" is an Amazon Prime original film.

Lindy Lewis is a bouncer with an intermittent explosive disorder. One day she goes on date with a man named Justin. The next morning she learns about the murder of Justin and starts to hunt for the killer. During the hunt, she feels that the vest she's using for suppressing her symptoms is becoming less and less effective.

After a day spent with friends walking in the mountain, my boyfriend and I were looking for a nice film to watch and "Jolt" had been our perfect choice. It's an action, comedy film with few thrilling scenes.
The actress protagonist is Kate Backinsale, and she's one of my favorite actresses.
The story is simple but with a nice twist at the ending.

Have you seen the film? What do you think about it? How would you respond if you suffered from a mental disorder like that of the protagonist or something similar? Let me know in the comments.

Night blesses you.

Film review: A quiet place

During the first three months of the year 2020, a large part of the human and animal population was decimated by blinded alien creatures with an extremely sensitive hearing. The creatures kill everything is doing any kind of noise. One day. the protagonists were stocking food and the younger son was killed by a creature. One year later, the mother is pregnant and near the precious day and the creatures are near to find and kill the family.

For more than half of the film, the characters don't say anything without the sign language. The silence is very deep, except for the soundtrack.
I found the film nice but it seemed it could be better. Maybe we'll see something better in the second part.

Have you seen it? Did you like it? What do you think about it?
Let me know in the comments.

Have a nice day.

Film Review: Annihilation

Hello readers!

Finally I watched the film of the first book of my favourite trillogy. I was waiting for it for 3 years and now it arrived! I'm talking about the "Area X" trillogy. I read the books and then I was waiting for the films. You can find the review of the books in these 3 posts:
From google images
A group of five women is sent into an area strangely covered by a strange barrier. Inside it, the vegetation is everywhere and it is in a continuous expansion. The five women have the mission of find new informations about the anomaly. They start their journey and the most they go into, the most they descover uncommon mutations. They are particularly hit by a macabre video of the previeus expedition and by a mysterious "composition". Along their way they are also attacked by a crocodile and a bear-shape being that had a human voice. Only two of them arrive to the lighthouse, the structure that seemed a possible fulcrum of everything.

In general I liked the film. It's atmosphere is mysterious enough and sometimes distressing but not so much. The special effects are good, I liked in particular the bear-shape being and the human shape who copied all the movements of the protagonist in the final scene.

I don't feel really able to write an objective comment about the film because I read the book before. I found a lot of differences and I have to say that I prefer the book. Its atmosphere was more obscure and more distressing, instead of the film where it sometimes resulted like if they were in the Alice's Wonderland.

As usual, I suggest you to see the film, it's worth it. It's on Netflix but you can also find it in streaming.

Have a nice day!

Film Review: Miss Peregrine's Home for Peculiar Children

Hello readers!
Some weeks ago my sister and I went to the cinema watching the new film Miss Peregrine's Home for Peculiar Children made by Tim Burton.

The protagonist of the film is a young teenager, Jake, grew up with the strange tales of his old grandfather, Abe. While Abe was tragically dying saied his grandson to go to "the Cairnholm loop of September 3, 1943" and that the "falcon" would have told him everything. Jake decides to go to the current Cairnholm looking for what his grandfather told him. There he finds the loop Abe told him and finds also the children of the orphanage where his grandfather lived for some years. In the orphanage, Jake meets Miss Alma Peregrine, the headmaster of the place, and understand that the she is the "falcon". Miss Peregrine explanes him that he is the only one able to see the Hollows, monsters that feed themselves with peculiar children's eyes.

The film is inspired by the book of the same name that I have read two or three years ago. I found the film accurate to the book and I was really happy of this. It could seems a film also for children, but I think it isn't. There are lots of scenes that a child could not see. After all, we are talking about Tim Burton!
I really liked the film, something strange made by one of the masters of strangeness even if there is a vibe similar to "Alice in Wonderland" made by the same productor.

Have a nice weekend!
Love

Review - Lucy

Hi dears!
Some weeks ago I watched a fantastic new film I have never seen: "Lucy" by Luc Besson (2014).

The film talk about what could happen if humans could be able to use their brain at 100%. The main character, Lucy (Scarlett Johannson) accidentally became a smuggler. The drug has to reaches the Europe and she and other 3 mans have been chosen for this job, but the sack into her intestin has been broken and she suddenly acquires some incredible knowleadges. After a quick operation, she leaves Taiwan and reaches Paris for talk with one of the best researcher and share her knowleadges and for help the franch drug squad finding the other 3 smuggler.
I won't tell you the end of the film :P it's too important. I found it really interesting and magnetic. My boyfriends was also satisfaied and happy to have seen it with me. I think the actress that interprets Lucy (my favourite) has been able to instill the insensibility of who know too much things for waste time feeling any kind of moods. I loved it.

Kisses, Emily.
