Week Review

This last week was particularly busy and a bit... demoralizing. But there's no time for depression, there's only time for good vibes and activities.

Someone could think that I’ve lost a lot of time making efforts for something that, in the end, didn’t work. They’re right, even if I prefer to see the good side of everything. Although this week I’ve wasted a lot of time, I’ve learned something new and I’ve added new knowledge to that I had before.

Luckily, the weekend had been softer. I spent a bit of time baking and cooking for my daddy’s birthday lunch, on Saturday. I spend also a bit of time playing computer games. I tried a new game that is keeping me so much addicted. I will write a review for it in one of my next posts.

What’s more? It’s cold… not too much for the season, but too much for me. If I would be able to feel less cold, I would really love fall and winter. I don’t know why, but I can’t stand temperatures below 18°. Well, it’s time for me to wear my warm and soft pyjamas and put me under my warm and soft blankets, with my boyfriend warming my feet and my cat cuddled beside me.

How was your week? Something new in the past days? Let me know in the comments.

Night blesses you all

Fall Favorites 2021

It's said that Fall is the season of death, but I think that it's also a season of life because people seem to be more productive, maybe because they "revived" thanks to the summer holidays.

Fall isn't my favourite season, but I like it anyway. It's a colourful season, sometimes more than springs, and it gives me so many suggestive landscape... its brown, orange, and red trees, its fog, and its cloudy and rainy days.

TEA: Fall and Winter are the best season for hot teas. I love Earl Grey tea with milk and a piece of apple cake. The perfect mix for an afternoon break.

COFFEE: long coffee or cappuccino provided that they have a lot of hot milk.

CANDY OR COOKIES: I think cookies are the perfect break in Fall afternoon especially Belgian biscuits. Apple cakes and apple pies are delicious too.

DINNER: any kind of vegetable soups, and cream of carrots and pumpkins, sometimes with some spelt or barley.

SCARF: it's not enough cold for heavy scarves, but when it's cooler like in the morning or in the evening, I usually use a blue light scarf.

COAT: the woolly coats made by my mom are perfect for this period.

SHOES: a pair of brown booties as it rains, or a pair of black elegant shoes when it's sunny or cloudy.

SCENTED CANDLE: cinnamon, apple, and every smell that would remember fall.

ACTIVITY: reading and playing computer games are my favourites, but I like also go out for a walk into the wood, looking for chestnuts.

What about your Fall? Feel free to copy this post and to tag me. I'll be happy to comment your post.

Night blesses you all.

3 things I've loved this week

Sometimes we need a bit of relaxation, and this week was quite relaxing.

1. My boyfriend and I helped E. freeing her home from some furniture she couldn't bring with her to the new home. She's really a wonderful woman.

2. Given that E. would have left on Saturday for her new home, my aunt organized a meeting for Thursday at lunch. We met earlier in the morning and we helped E. with the last preparation and then we went out for lunch. We ate in a traditional restaurant. The place was a little full of people, but the food was very good!

3. I was particularly inspired by cooking. I prepared some delicious dishes and today I prepared a tasty and beautiful apple cake.

How was your week? Did you do anything interesting? Let me know in the comments.

Anime Review: The promised Neverland - Season 1

"The Promised Neverland" is an anime series I found on Amazon Prime Video.

Emma, Norman, and Rey are three 11 years old orphans who live in a Victorian-style orphanage. Their live a carefree life between playing, rest, and daily aptitude tests. One day, another little girl from the orphanage leaves for reaching the family who adopted her but she forgets a soft toy she's fond of. Emma and Norman notice it, so decide to bring it to their friend before she leaves, but when they go out of the gates of the orphanage, they see something frightening.

Good, good, and good again. It's strange and, at certain points, disturbing, but it's really nice.
The orphanage is built on a very large terrain enclosed by a high wall that doesn't let anyone see outside it. Why children shouldn't watch outside the orphanage? What's there that they can't discover?

Have you seen this anime? What do you think about it? Have you ever been to an orphanage or do you know someone who lived in a structure like that? Let me know in the comments.

3 things I've loved this week

I'm so tired this week... but I'm very happy! I've been busy, more than the one before, but I was able also to find a bit of time for fun and for my lovely cat.

1. I renewed for the first time my driving license. They're already ten years I got it and this year I had my first renewal. Nothing particular, they asked me to read some letters from a certain distance and if I have any dangerous illnesses. My sight is perfect, as usual, and I don't have any illnesses that can be dangerous for driving.

2. My aunt asked me if I accompanied her to a friend of hers who had sold her home and she's moving to another city. This friend, E., had a lot of old and new things that couldn't bring with her to the new home, she asked my aunt if she needed anything. Meeting me, she asked me if I needed anything, and given that my boyfriend and I are starting to look for a home to buy, E. offered us to keep some furniture for the bedroom (a double bed, a couple of night tables, and a chest of drawers), a little table with two chairs and another old little piece of furniture. With my car I could only keep the smaller furniture, but, for the others, we will come back next week, in a van of the company of my boyfriend.

3. Today has been the birthday of a friend of ours and he invited us to eat Japanese food in our favorite all-you-can-eat restaurant.

Welcome September

OMG! September came so quickly!

Summer is almost ended and autumn is at the doors. This means that cold days are coming too and also those beautiful colors of the leaves on the streets and on the fields.

In my idea, Fall means also hot teas and chocolate, hot soups, Yankee candles and incense, sofas, books, and soft wholly blankets. People seem to wiggle a little more, maybe for getting back the retired works of the summer holidays.

Do you like Fall? What are your favorite activities during this period? Let me know in the comments.

Night blesses you.

Prime Film Review: Jolt

"Jolt" is an Amazon Prime original film.

Lindy Lewis is a bouncer with an intermittent explosive disorder. One day she goes on date with a man named Justin. The next morning she learns about the murder of Justin and starts to hunt for the killer. During the hunt, she feels that the vest she's using for suppressing her symptoms is becoming less and less effective.

After a day spent with friends walking in the mountain, my boyfriend and I were looking for a nice film to watch and "Jolt" had been our perfect choice. It's an action, comedy film with few thrilling scenes.
The actress protagonist is Kate Backinsale, and she's one of my favorite actresses.
The story is simple but with a nice twist at the ending.

Have you seen the film? What do you think about it? How would you respond if you suffered from a mental disorder like that of the protagonist or something similar? Let me know in the comments.

Night blesses you.

3 things I've loved this week

Another week has gone by. It was very funny and productive.

1. The first thing I've loved this week had been Tuesday. In the morning I had a very good walk with two other friends and then I had lunch with my two older nieces. We spent the afternoon playing "Cards Against Humanity". They had so much fun that they've already asked me to repeat the afternoon.

2. I spent a bit of time with my mom. On Monday morning we got our manicure together and on Thursday morning we went together to the hairstylist.

3. The best thing that happened was on Saturday morning. My boyfriend and I had a long walk in one of our beautiful mountains. The weather was cloudy and high there was almost cold.

Lunch with a spectacular view.

We live somewhere down there

On the way back...

...we saw also a beautiful butterfly

How was your week? How did you spend your weekend? Tell me in the comments.

Netflix Series Review: The Queen's Gambit

"The Queen's Gambit" is an original Netflix series and based on a novel of the same name written by Walter Tevis.

The story talks about Beth Harmon, an orphaned chess prodigy on her rise to the top of the chess world while struggling with drug and alcohol dependency. It's set between the 1950s and 1960s.

I really devoured this series, a little slow at the beginning, but fast and fast on going on.
I liked the protagonist character, enigmatic and sophisticated, and, in my opinion, the actress they chose was perfect for the role.

Chess' world is fascinating. It's a war art played into the mind of players before that in the chessboard. I've played lots of time against my sister and boyfriend, but it's a board game that's not for me. It needs too much focus and when I play something I completely turn off my brain, haha.

Have you seen the series? What do you think about it? Have you ever played chess? Do you like it? If you were a chess prodigy, what would you do? Let me know in the comments.

3 things I've loved this week

This had been a very nice week.

1. I went shopping with my sister to discover a nice new clothing store, it's very cheap! I bought two pairs of shorts, one skirt, and 4 t-shirts. I was happy like a child on Christmas.

2. After the shopping I spent a bit of time with my sister and her animals: one dog and three cats. It has been a lovely day.

3. I finished the translation of the book and uploaded it... I think it will be published soon.

August is almost at its ending and the summer too. What about your holidays? Have you been somewhere? Or did you stayed at home? Let me know in the comments.

Night blesses you all.

Tv Series Review: Alias Grace

"Alias Grace" is a miniseries that you can find on Netflix and it's based on the novel written by Margaret Atwood ("The handmaid tails").

Grace is an immigrant who arrived in Canada with her family from Ireland. She became the made of a rich family where she met her best friend. Some years later, Grace was hired in another family where she murdered the proprietor and his lover. She was sentenced to death at the beginning, but a doctor wanted to help her to change it into a life sentence.

I love the setting of the series: the 19th century is a fascinating period. The simplicity of that period's people is something we couldn't imagine in our contemporary years.
I think the protagonist actress, Sarah Gadon (Grace), is perfect for these enigmatic roles. I saw her for the first time in "The Queen's Gambit" and I really loved her and her character.
I found the series relaxing. Not so much engaging, maybe a little touching for those who are more sensitive.

Have you seen "Alias Grace"? What do you think about it? Who could you have been in the 19th century based on your actual family and work conditions? Let me know in the comments.

Night blesses you.

3 things I've loved this week

Hello everybody! How was your week?

My week has been particularly full of emotions and satisfaction. The translation is going very well. Tomorrow I will finish it then, on Tuesday, I will review it and finally, I will upload the finished work. As soon as the book will be published, I will share the link in one of my next posts!

1. A funny Wednesday night. The best friend of a friend of ours came to the north from Naples, so we organized a day where we played the funniest board games we have. She had so much fun that she bought two of the games we played together once she came back home.

2. Some walks, by myself or with my friend M. There were beautifully sunny and hot days, perfect for good walks into the woods and countryside.

3. The birthday of my friend G. We ate in a fantastic all-you-can-eat sushi restaurant and had a lot of fun! I ate some delicious sweet "rabbits bread", with cream, and I really loved them! I also met a girl who I still knew, but we both didn't remember. We met for the first time when we were children. She lent me the VHS of an old Disney cartoon and her sister taught me to play the board game "battleship". We spent most of the night chatting and laughing.

Amazon Series Review: The Boys 2

Here we are with the review of the second season of "The Boys", don't forget to read that of the first one here.

In the second season arrives a new female superhero. She's very charismatic with the crowds and tries to convince the leader of the superheroes to use the same marketing method. Meanwhile, the ex-agent of the FBI finds his wife and plans a way to bring her back home with her son. The protagonist tries to work on his relationship with one of the superheroines.

I think the second season is as good as the first one. Except for the existence of superheroes, I find its topics very contemporary: the appearance we need to show to other people is more important than what and who, we really are.

If you would have the power of immortality, how would you live your eternity? Let me know in the comments.

This week was full of news and good habits!

1. On Tuesday morning I went walking with my friend M. He lives in a beautiful little city at the foot of the mountains.

2. I received my first official order for a book translation from English into Italian! I'm so happy! I got to work immediately and I finished the first ten pages in only 8 hours.

3. I saw a roe deer in the field in front of my home. What a beautiful sight!

Netflix Series Review - Dark

Source: https://bit.ly/37UcNNG

"Dark" is a German Netflix original series that talks about time travel. It's divided into 3 seasons and it's currently closed.

2019. In the small city of Winden disappear two children. The following researches reveal mysteries and secrets about four families: the Kahnwald, the Nielsen, the Doppler, and the Tiedemann. Moreover, during the researches happen some strange events like the falling of copious birds and strong and strange electric pulses that blow the electricity all over the city. Most of the older inhabitants remember that the same events also happened 33 years before when disappeared another child of the Nielsen family.

The first season is articulated on three timelines, each one distant 33 years: 2019, 1986, 1953. I found it slower than the others, but the reason is simple: there is a high quantity of information.

The second season space out between the year 1921 and the year 2052. It's slow, but like the first, it's still full of information that finally seems to lead somewhere.

At last, the third season comes back in time until the year 1888. Into the second to last episode were included a tracking shot of other years that let us set the last pieces of the story. I found this last season very quick and sometimes a bit overwhelming, but still great!

The end is beautiful, surprising, and that I've never imagined because, like the protagonists, I thought that all the events would start from a point but they started before instead.

The entire series is based on the auto-consistency principle that says, essentially, that the past is immutable and so anyone would come back to change it, will be led to get it done again (see "Novikov self-consistency principle").

Have you seen the series? What do you think about it? Would you like time-traveling? Let me know in the comments.

See you soon

Networkers

"Networkers" are people who work in Network Marketing. They are active and positive people who prefer to find solutions instead of problems. They know that what they get or lose is their own credit and no one else's.

I think there's a common wrong idea about Networkers. Many times I hear about Networkers like "those who earn a lot doing anything". If that were really the case, they wouldn't work in Network Marketing! Networkers need to be constant and patient. Success doesn't come by itself in one day! In effect, they're very similar to business owners in traditional companies.

Many people don't like Networkers because they consider they're demanding. It's not Networkers fault! Networkers are so satisfied with their company and its products that they can't help but talk to everyone about it, even with those who have already talked about it several times (usually family and friends).

So, what do Networkers really do in their job?

  • A Networker promotes a company and its products that he or she loves, in which he or she trusts, and with whose customers and colleagues keep a great relationship.
  • A Networker makes personnel selection because everyone can do Network Marketing, but not everyone has the right motivation to do it.
  • A Networker helps to grow up his or her inexperienced colleagues because his or her growth depends on that of their colleagues.
And what Networkers need to work?

Only a tablet, or a smartphone, or a computer and a very big dream. It's the most important thing because it's the fuel of any Networker.

Have you ever heard about Networkers? What do you think about them? Would you like to start a carrier in Network Marketing? Let me know in the comments!

Have a nice day!

Amazon Series Review - The Boys

It took a year, but finally, my boyfriend convinced me to watch the first TV series of "The Boys". As it came out I judged it badly, thinking of it as an absurd parody of superheroes, but I had to change my mind instead.

The series starts with the homicide of the protagonist's girlfriend, by a superhero. While the protagonist has to decide if he has to accept or not the offer of the superheroes, an ex-agent of the FBI contacts him offering him help to obtain justice.

They plan to put a bug in the meeting room of the superheroes, to find out if it was really an accident, but they're found out by one of the heroes, that block and try to kill them. They succeed in knocking out, capturing, and hiding him. Unfortunately, the hero saw their face and don't want to free him because he could continue hunting them, or worse, he could tell everything to the leader of the heroes.

After the hero exploded, they discover that the hero who killed the protagonist's girlfriend is involved in superhero drug trafficking, so they want to catch him. Meanwhile, they find out also that superheroes weren't born like superheroes, but they were created in a laboratory, thank the same substance that they use like drugs and that the drug traffics, ends in the hands of some terrorists who are trying to create an army of super-terrorists.

I wasn't completely convinced about the seriousness of the story, so I started to watch it taking it lightly, but since the first episode, I've put away the thought that it was absurd. This first series is interesting, especially because it doesn't show classical good superheroes, devoted only to charity, but it shows how humans would really react if they keep superpowers in this age of social media: they would think more to impress and receive "likes" than seriously save people.

Have you seen the series? What do you think about it? Ant what do you think about a similar vision of the superheroes? Do you agree? If you awake one morning with Superman's powers, how would you use them? Let me know in the comments.

See ya soon!

Network Marketing

Everyone has done Network Marketing at least once in his/her life! Have you ever suggested a restaurant, a movie, or a professional to relatives or friends? Did you know, at that moment you advertize that restaurant, movie, or professional? We know better it as "Word of Mouth", free and essential for companies, especially for those new that need more to make themselves known. The Network Marketing is the paid version of "World of Mouth".

Advertising made by advertising agency costs, it's a fact. To decrease this cost, a company proposes to its customers (ourselves) to suggest its products in exchange for a profit on the turnover we bring to it: the company acquires new customers meanwhile it helps us create a small payday or rounding the salary we still receive from our work. And this is only the beginning!

Sometimes it happens that a relative, or friend, needs to round his/her salary and asks us to help him/her to promote the products of the company, as we're doing. At this point, the company decides to give us a further reward because we're helping our friend to do the same for us, and because, in this way, we're helping our company to increase its turnover. The most the company gains, the more it can reward its customers-collaborators.

This system doesn't only bring more turnover to our trusted company, it brings also a profit to us, which is never stable, but tends to increase. It's about a meritocratic profit that we acquire based on our commitment. Has it never happened to you to complain about a co-worker who receives your own pay and works half of you? With this method, such a situation can't occur! Everyone only reaps what they sow.

Summing up: Network Marketing is a paid "Word of Mouth", based on how much we chat.

What I love about...Spring

I love Spring, it's one of my favorite seasons: full of colors and life. You can find new energy everywhere and you can use it for the best activities you prefer: running, walking, working, cleaning, and so on.

Some weeks ago, before they forced us to stay at home, I went out for a good walk and had to take some pictures of those colorful flowers.

This is also the period of Sakura blossom in Japan. I'm following a FB page where they're publishing some beautiful pictures of cherry trees blossom. It's so suggestive. One day I will go to Japan, and I will see this beautiful event with my own eyes.

What do you like about spring? Is there somewhere you would like to visit, more than others, in this period? Let me know in the comments.

Good night lovelies

There is something new...

There is a new lifestyle for a new me.
I reached a point of no return and I could do nothing more than take a few steps back.

First of all: I started a healthier diet. I decided it was time to see a nutritionist and let him to suggest me the better way for losing weight. And he suggested me very well! In 5 months I have lost 10kg, and I'm still losing weight! I'm very happy and satisfied.

In the second place, I needed to change my job. I was no more able to effort all that pressure from those 2 cold persons I worked with and I was no more able to accept to work for making richer rich people. I want to make real my dreams and no one except me can realize them. So I started this healthier and beautiful new job.

Now I'm spending more time at home (quarantine or not), and I'm dedicating more attention to my self-care and family. When we can go out, I go on walking almost every day, and when we can't go out, I do some workouts twice or three times per week.

In this period I found again my passion for cooking, so...I often prepare something delicious.

Well, I'm printing again with the 3D printer. I'm so happy. We had some problems with the machine, but now we fixed them and we're printing again almost full time. The theme of the moment is Pokémon.

I also discovered a new passion: nails and everything concerns with them. I really like nail art, and I'm trying to do always something new. My boyfriend's mom is always ready to offer herself as cavy giving me the possibility of exercise on someone else's nails.

Well, what else? Nothing more for the moment. I'll write something new soon.

Good night everyone.

Emily
